In these patients, hypoglycemia was caused by a variety of nondiabetes drugs, alcohol, and critical illnesses such as hepatic, renal, or cardiac failure, sepsis, or inanition. Most patients had multiple possible reasons for hypoglycemia. Only seven patients had unexplained hypoglycemia, which did not recur during the inpatient admission.
