MADSA was established in 1978, by a small group of adult day center directors interested in networking, advocacy, marketing, sharing resources, and providing quality services while meeting established standards of care. MADSA partners with the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging and local area agencies on aging to promote and ensure.

Adult day care centers that are funded by the Office of the Aging are not licensed. This office only insures quality care for adults needing supervision in areas such as distribution of medication, bathing, laundry, etc. Most of these centers are located at churches or child day care centers, etc.
