Apr 07, 2010 · Arecibo on 432 MHz Moon Bounce The Arecibo Observatory Amateur Radio Club will be putting the 1000-foot radio telescope on the air for 432 MHz EME from April 16-18. It can be heard with a small hand-held yagi pointed at the moon.
Apr 17, 2010 · The object is to see if I can hear radio signals bounced off the moon. If you didn’t know, a bunch of guys that include Joe Taylor K1JT of WSPR fame have got permission to use the 1000-foot dish of the Arecibo Radio Telescope (shown above) for a couple of hours each day over this weekend to make radio contacts via EME.
Joe Taylor, K1JT -- along with the Arecibo Observatory Radio Club, KP4AO -- will be on the air running 400 W to the telescope's 1000 foot antenna. Their scheduled times of operation are 1645-1930 on April 16, 1740-2020 on April 17 and 1840-2125 on April 18 (all times UTC).
